Coordinated Permitting Tools, shown on the right side of the diagram, aim to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing regulatory system. Permitting Process Improvements, shown here on the left, seek to change how agencies and regulated entities approach environmental permitting for transportation projects.

As shown in the diagram, transportation projects range in complexity and frequency from routine maintenance to large, multi-part construction  procedures and improvement projects with the majority falling somewhere in between [Click within the triangle to learn more about the distinction between levels].  The tools developed and enhanced by TPEAC and its subcommittees address transportation projects across this spectrum.    Click on any of the tools in the diagram to learn more about how they contribute to a timely, cost-effective permitting process that still meets standards for environmental protection.
