Today, the Office of Regulatory Assistance helps citizens and businesses navigate through complicated layers of government regulation. Tomorrow, those layers will be aligned and integrated to present a single face of government, a seamless experience for citizens and businesses who deal with multiple state agencies or with a combination of state, local and federal agencies.
With our many partners, we are designing regulatory solutions that meet the demands of a competitive global economy while preserving the vitally important qualities of our environment and our communities.
One day Governor Gregoire wants you to log-on to business.wa.gov and find a fully customized interface for all your business licensing, report filing, and state tax collection needs. We’ve already begun building this integrated online business services center. As the online business portal takes shape, we are looking for opportunities to build similar integrated systems for environmental permitting.
These systems will incorporate the best of new technology and will allow us to retool outdated forms, applications, and processes. Consistency across the several layers of local, state and federal permitting agencies is our goal. Choice, predictability, and mitigation that works are also key elements of the solutions we are developing.
As a part of the Governor’s Office, the Office of Regulatory Assistance is uniquely positioned to lead effective collaboration between agencies and governments. Our success to date is due to the strong support from many partners who are ready and willing to change.
